About Me Georgie Bell

I offer comprehensive Birth Doula services for expectant and laboring mothers. My hope is that all mothers might achieve their best birth. It is my greatest desire to help you. Do it for yourself, and your baby. Together, we will adapt to and navigate through the challenges that may arise. You don’t have to go through labor alone.

Focused on your beautiful birth experience.

With the birth of each of my five children I Studied, read, experimented, learned, and tried many new things. I tried hospital birth, home birth with a real midwife, and water birth. I learned about Hypnobirthing, attended prenatal water aerobics classes, and yoga classes. I hired my own midwife, and several Doulas of my own along the way. I had my first child at 29, and my last at 42. All of this is to say, I can help you without you having to re invent the wheel yourself. You don’t have choices, if you don’t know what your choices are. Let me help you make the best choices for your birth. Tell me what you dream of for your birth, and I will help you get as many of your wishes as your birth allows. Let me serve you and your family in the way that makes you feel heard, supported, respected and safe. Together, can be a winning team.

Why should you hire a birth doula?

A doula is someone who helps you navigate an often complex medical world known to us as birth. I will start from the moment we meet to uncover your dream birth.

The value of a Birth Plan

Writing a birth plan together helps us flesh out the details of your wants and wishes for your baby and your body in birth. Do you plan on being induced, or do you want to go into labor naturally? Why or why not? Does your Dr. have a habit of offering early inductions? Do you understand the pros and cons of that practice?

Education is the key to success

Are you taking any classes to prepare yourself and your partner for birth? Are you open to ideas or suggestions of classes or techniques to try?

Dr. and Hospital Policy and how it effects you

Which hospital does your Dr. have privileges at? Have you toured the birth center there? Have you met any of the staff? Do you know the intake protocol for admittance to that center? What procedures are standard practice? Do they insist on a saline lock for example? Do they have a birth tub? Can you give birth in it? Do they practice remote or intermittent monitoring? What choices do you have, or will they give you? What are the risks and benefits of each of these for yourself, or your baby? Wouldn’t it be nice to have all of this figured out before you go into labor and delivery?

Finally, having a doula means you are never alone. I will stay with you through the labor and beyond. The nursing staff may come and go. You may get along well with some, and not others. It may be hours before they call in the Dr. you are familiar with. Or your Dr. may not even be available that day or shift. But, your partner and I will stay with you regardless. We will support you with personalized care until you are tucked in with your sweet baby, and ready to bond.
